| Guys, this is how it works. Make a custom buy order on an item that has a wide gap between buyer price and seller price. Wait. Resell the items for (buy price *0.15)+(buy price)+profit Wait. Collect profits, repeat. (buy price *0.15)+(buy price) will break even on an item, so you have to sell for more than that. Hence +proft. It's best to have several different trades running at any given time, don't throw all your eggs in one basket, so to speak. http://www.gw2spidy.com/ will show you all items on the trading post, the cost of making those items, the profit/loss of making those items, and the profit margin of each item according to buy price vs. sell price. http://www.gw2tp.net/ is basically the same as spidy (in fact it gets information from spidy), but only shows you items that you can make a profit off by powertrading. It's buggy and slow and even wants you to pay for the service, but I suppose there's enough information for free to be useful. | |

| I can tell you how to get started on power trading though for the basics. Most of it is pretty simple, it's just a matter of having a lot of patience and keeping track of trades and keeping an eye on what you power trade. ____________________________________________________________________________ This is a good site for starting out until you get your own groove as a power trader: - http://www.gw2tp.net/ (Don't pay for it, just use it to start out. It's not the best site, but it gives you a pretty good reference point to start with.) It constantly updates and gives you a rough idea on what to do. Buying items in large bulk that flip for 5-10 silver is usually the most profitable until you have a larger quantity of different kinds of trades going at the same time. This site gives you a good outlook of everything on the trading post at any given time: - http://www.gw2spidy.com____________________________________________________________________________ These are some good starter guides to give you a better idea of exactly what you're doing. - http://www.guildwars2tradingpost.com/2012/10/damn-this-is-gold-guide.html <--- I like this one a lot - http://www.guildwars2hub.com/guides/basics/6-trading-post-tips <--- This has good tips to working the trading post - http://goarticles.com/article/Guild-Wars-2-Gold-Guide-Utilizing-the-Trading-Post/7308593/ <--- This is also a very descriptive guide, but it's wordy ____________________________________________________________________________ 15% of the buy price will always give you an even break, so the idea is to sell for more than that in order to make decent profit. As AOTT said, "(buy price *0.15)+(buy price)." The more trades you have the more profit, because you're not sticking to one item that you can only buy or sell in any given amount of bulk. You won't always profit right away and that's where the patience comes in, sometimes you have to wait it out and keep tabs on your trades. The more trades you have going, the harder it gets, so start out with something simple. If you can make 5g a day off power trading then you probably have a basic understanding of it. ____________________________________________________________________________ All in all, it takes time. I've been power trading since the game was released and it has taken me quite some time to earn up to 6500g. However in more recent days I've been getting a little more income, but it fluctuates with my available time on the game, as I am very busy from day to day. | |

so buy price*1.15 Not necessarily, the exact percentage can fluctuate and depends on the item, but you never want to go lower than 15% is what he's saying (0.15) because otherwise you don't get profit.

I'm not arguing the semantics, but the programmer inside me doesn't like seeing drawn out equations. (buy price * 0.15) + buy price == buy price * 1.15

(buy price * 0.15) + buy price == buy price * 1.15 I gotcha.
