Knew from GW1. I know quite a few people in ToA; I'd list them but I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings since I'm sure I'll forget somebody

Weekends mostly. 10-15 hr. 3-4 days/week.

Yes. Riot Backstab, Riot Mezzes Out, etc. [GS], [DL], [HRUU].

Friendly, funny people.
Competence and teamwork at high-end content.
Some guild drama to keep things interesting.

I'm staying on Stormbuff Isle server since a few RL friends are casual players there. This shouldn't be too bad as there's cross-server grouping for dungeons/fractals.

Dear god invite this guy. He's an extremely skilled player, always trying to improve and help others get better, and he has an amazingly chill and drama-free attitude.

Enjoyed playing with Riot while I was back in gw1, he was a good player and a nice person to play with.

App seems rushed and unwilling to move to our home server. /meh

/invite as at least alliance

Based on the fact that you have a lot of friends here I would consider putting you in our alliance rank. I am not keen on having members that are not on this server.

With guesting coming in a few days I don't see why we should limit him to alliance. SBI is a NA server, he'll be able to hop over for guild events and w/e.

He WILL be missing out on Dragonbrand's awesome wvw, though. Alas.

I agree with Evo, the app does seem very rushed. I also agree with Mitch, if you are invited it should be as alliance and not as a member. It is true that, as Frosty said, you can participate in our guild events come the 1/28 and you would be another person to have for dungeons, if you represent us. Besides these two reasons, If you're not on our server you have no real vested interest in the ToA's future.

Trial for membership: No.
Accept as a alliance: Possibly.

End of the day all Alliance really restricts is access on the forum and some guild stash benefits. In reality that isn't a huge deal for a lot of people. Imho if Riot had flat out pmed Frosty for an invite or myself or probably a few others we'd have straight up invited and put as at least alliance so I'm probably going to do that as soon as I log in if someone doesn't beat me to it.
The fact that Riot has applied imo is more a formality than anything else.

If he is staying on another server to play with RL friends that does sort of imply that ToA isn't going to be his primary guild and thus would relate to Alliance status rather than Member status. The implication is that he is looking for an extended group of people to talk to and meet/play with as well as another place to be able to say in guild chat "GLF 2 more AC" which is exactly what Alliance Chat in Guild Wars 1 was.

It's possible we need to refresh what defines members/alliance.

Perhaps we should ask riot straight out how much of the time he is planning to represent ToA. I remember a couple runs with riot back in GW1 and he was always an asset to a team. In this sense, I think we should judge whos a member and whos alliance according to the amount of time someone is willing to represent and contribute to the guild.

In any case, I think riot should be invited under w/e rank leadership seems fits him best.

Simply because unwilling to move to our Home Server and apparently guild drama is interesting to you? I prefer my guilds drama-less.

I'm not going to jump into the whole rank discussion, the leadership can figure that out.

Riot is an awesome dude. I've done tons of runs with him in GW1 and some in GW2 as well. He'd definitely be a strong asset to the guild.

My friends rarely play, but when they do it's mostly casual pve stuff so I don't want to jump through loops to do that (I'm not sure exactly how the guesting system will work). Dungeons/fractals are already easy cross-server, so I just think it would be simpler to stay on my current server. My friends don't care about rep stuff either, so I'll be reping ToA all the time.

As far as my app seeming rushed, it is my nature to be curt on forums. A wall of text may look impressive, but if it doesn't add any additional meaning I don't see a point. Some people write conversationally and rabble on, others take a stream-of-consciousness approach and write one... long... run-on.... sentence. Myself, I typically edit my serious posts for brevity and clarity.

Unless the guesting system is COMPLETELY different to how ANet have described it (okay this wouldn't be too surprising but let's give them the benefit of the doubt for once), you'd have no issues playing with your friends, assuming you don't want to WvW with them. If you're serious about your app to ToA, definitely transfer to Dragonbrand.
Aside from that and the fact that guild drama is one of your interests, your app looks very strong.

Riot was a great guy to play with, +1 from me whether he switches servers or not. When guesting finally gets pushed to the live servers it'll mean all he can't do with us is WvW. Influence is entirely irrelevant.
